Node Design is a customizable Solution that enables broadband coax cable network designers to easily design networks using GIS in a graphical user interface.
Built with industry standard tools such as Microsoft Silverlight, Microsoft SQL server and ESRI ARCGIS, Node design can be interfaced with and customized to fit any need.
With the customer administration module, cable companies can easily administer client drop cables and print reports showing active and inactive connections per tap, branch or the complete node.
A network is designed by selecting poles from a GIS layer. This process creates placeholders for cable elements and creates cables with the length determined from the GIS layer.
All modifications and designs of new networks go through the project module. This guarantees that there is always an audit trail of who made changes to the design.
After the poles have been selected the network elements are added to the design.
At all times the designer can override the system and manually select a tap.
The designer enables the Db loss calculator and the system automatically selects the correct taps.
Dashed lines indicate that it is a new network so the designer can easily distinguish between existing networks or a new network
Amplifiers are placed and configured based on the requirements for the design. Pads and Equalizers are also automatically selected by the system.
After the design is complete the designer approves the project.
After this step no changes can be made until a new project is started.
Networks which are approved also show the tap values.
Drop cables or subscriber cables are assigned by selecting a specific address. Cables can be assigned or relocated to any address.
Before a cable can be assigned the user has to create a drop cable.
After the drop cable is created the user can make a reservation for a tap port.
After a field technician connects a drop cable, a back office user has to confirm the connection to flag the cable as active
The system automatically transfers all subscribers to the same tap if this tap exists in the modified branch. But the user can always transfer subscribers to a new tap.
